International Women's Day Insta Love

So I don't know how many of you caught on to yesterday being International Women's Day but if you're on Instagram, then you probably were well aware. BUT, if you weren't aware, don't even worry about it! I've rounded up some favorites from all the insta love #IWD received yesterday. This is the first year I've really been aware of the day (sad since it's been a thing since 1910...), and it sparked this kind of energy in me that just had me running around all day long. What's even cooler? All of it is thanks to social media, which, if you're a social media nerd/lover/addict like me (you know you are!!), is SO awesome!

Random ramble: There are so many awesome things that I have to say about social media in general, but my absolute favorite part of the entire social media world is how amazing it is at connecting people from all over. I don't know why it fascinates me so much, or why talking about it makes me so excited... but it does and I love it and I officially love International Women's Day because of it.

I'm a girl who loves quotes, this is my kind of holiday...

Happy International Women's Day #IWD. Thinking about all the amazing women in my life who made#AwardSeason so meaningful and memorable...#Mother #Daughter #Love

The newly launched Porter Magazine was killing it with all their amazing quotes yesterday. They are becoming one of my favorite Instagram accounts very quickly.

A strong woman, in her essence, is a gift to the world.

Don't let anyone push you around ladies. Being a woman is hard, and if you ask me, we don't get enough credit! If you've been needing a reminder of how great you are, this is it. Now go kick some ass.

Coral Crush

So orange and coral were big on spring 2014 runways. This look from Nanette Lepore is adorable, right? And ever since my friends and I made the rather impromptu decision to go to Mexico this summer (literally this choice was made on Thursday...), I've been on the hunt for everything BRIGHT and COLORFUL.

And, if you ask me, one of the happiest and summer-y-iest colors in the world is coral. I love, love, love it! Orange doesn't really look the greatest on me. I mean, it doesn't look bad, but my extremely fair skin doesn't really work it all that well unless I'm sporting a summer tan too. Coral, on the other hand, I can pull off more easily. But my love affair goes beyond just clothes! Furniture, mugs, lipsticks... if it's coral I want it!

p.s. I picked out yesterday what bag I'll be purchasing for the trip. It's Kate Spade, are you even surprised?

She holds the heat, the breeze of summer in the circle of her hand

Denim Denim Denim

I only wish I was cool enough to pull off this look. Denim on denim has been a favorite for a while of mine, but I've run into a few issues with the whole deal. 1) I don't own a chambray shirt or jean jacket, 2) my jean collection is less than admirable at the moment, and 3) I don't feel like I'm exactly edge-y enough to pull it off. But a lot of girls do know how to rock the denim on denim trend, and hopefully I'll be able to pull the trigger sooner rather than later by drawing inspiration from these looks!

Falling Apart and Into Place

Anyone else feel like today just snuck up on them? I know I've said that I don't mind Mondays, but I can't help but feel like this one came a little too quickly. But, what can you do? I haven't been feeling the best lately, and as a result my diet has kind of gone out the window. Not to mention I discovered this extremely yummy drink that I haven't had just enough of... yet. What started out as an innocent way to trick myself into thinking I was in paradise has become a favorite! Won't even apologize about it.

Now that you know of the less than admirable lifestyle choices I've been making lately (Give me ALL the carbs!), I'm looking at this Monday as a kind of renewal. I've been so discouraged lately reading all my blogs and seeing all these beautiful women that I've decided it's time for me to really start focusing on myself again.

These past few weeks, I really got bogged down between schoolwork, the crazy weather we've been having, the fact that there's still snow on the ground and it's now MARCH... but I can't blame it all on the weather.

Truth be told, I'm the biggest wimp when I'm tired. And lately I've been feeling exhausted. I'm sure my lack of healthy eating and exercise has had a lot to do with it, but for some reason I wake up tired and by 3pm I'm just about ready for bed. It's been making me miserable.

It's no excuse. I've been bailing on friends, snapping at my parents, and have just been so down on myself lately. It makes me disappointed. I haven't been focusing enough on the "me time" that I cherish so dearly-- the time I take each day to just think and process and breathe. But it just feels like there is no time!

What worries me the most is that I know life just gets harder. I know that there's a whole other world waiting to eat you alive outside of the college bubble. So with that terrifying thought in my mind, I suppose it's time I get used to the idea of being exhausted. Missing out on life to sleep? That doesn't sound like a life at all! And it's the life I've been living for a little over a month now. Depressing, right?

Life's been throwing me a lot of lemons-- a lot of puny, annoying lemons. I've been cracking under the stress, mentally and physically. Those weeks or months when you just feel defeated? That was my February. But it's March, it's time to turn over a new leaf. Spring is (hopefully) on it's way and that means sunshine and warmer weather!

The Real Food for Thought

The thing is, when life gets hard, when every single odd in the world seems to be against you, you can't let it wreck you. I spend a lot of time being afraid of the world, of how easily it could destroy me. But fear is not what this life is meant to be about. This life is meant to be about dreams, hope, love, laughing with friends, enjoying family, and making time for what matters the most. The reality is I haven't been. I haven't yet learned how to just keep swimming when everything feels like it's falling apart.

And want to know what the other thing is? Looking back on the past month, my life isn't falling apart. Actually, all but one or two aspects of my life have rapidly started getting better and better. Isn't it funny that when everything is really going right you feel just as out of your mind as you do when everything is going wrong? Call me crazy, but maybe you have to learn to just keep swimming when everything-- your dreams, and your future-- are just at your fingertips.

Have a great Monday!

Sundays In Bed

Sundays are my absolute favorite. Don't get me wrong, I love Saturdays too, but they're usually more busy and stressful. Sundays on the other hand mean sleeping in, brunches, and a day of relaxing in bed (at least if you're me!) And what makes this Sunday even more spectacular? The fact that I'm on spring break and have no school tomorrow!! So what if I'm not in Mexico? I get to sleep in (almost) every day and lounge around my house, with not a care in the world but blogging.

Okay, so maybe that's a little too ideal. But, if I had it my way, that's how it would be! It's essentially why I was in heaven for all most of winter break. I will be working away some of my days this break, between schoolwork and my job(s). I don't mind though, while I enjoy being lazy, the busy bee in me just won't quit. There's always something to do! But Sunday mornings? They're reserved for reading.

A Well-Read Woman is a Dangerous Creature

1. Can't ever start the week without reading my horoscope. Scary accurate.

2. Going somewhere for spring break? Meet the TSA's guidelines and pack your products right. There's nothing worse than watching your favorite shampoo get tossed in the trash can by some dude with an attitude problem.

3. Don't forget these packing tips  either (from none other than the main prepster herself, The College Prepster)! Make sure you have all your must-haves!

4. Now that you're packed, remind yourself of just how ready you are to get to the beach.

5. My first article for Her Campus!

6. If you love J. Law and have a lot of time on your hands, might as well read up on what it really means to be "a cool girl."

7. Guy problems? Chances are, it's probably not your fault. In their 20s, men are even more of a completely different breed of human.

8. I've been loving denim on denim lately, and I love these tips from LC even more!

9. If you're not going anywhere for spring break, or this never-ending winter is bumming you out/it seems like literally everything is going wrong, remember this. We all have our weeks right?

10. I'm not opposed to ending the weekend with a glass of wine (or two). Working the late shift tonight? Find out just what kind of drink you'll need once you're finally plopped down on your couch.

Sunday, the day for the language of leisure

I hope your day is spent relaxing and refueling. With the busy weeks ahead (summer come faster!), we could all use a little extra down time.
