Sundays in Bed

Hello everybody and Happy Mother's Day to all the fantastic moms out there! I'm in an especially good mood today following my run this morning and the gorgeous weather we're having this weekend. It was supposed to rain for five days straight after Friday, so thank goodness that whoever is in charge of the weather had a change of heart!

So maybe I'm just unbelievably excited that I don't have classes again until August, or just excited that this summer is going to be one of the best yet! I move into my first apartment in three weeks, I'm living with two of my best friends, and all three of my jobs rock. Life's pretty good!

I hope that whether or not you just wrapped up exams, or are wrapping up in the next few weeks you take a minute each day to be grateful. There's so much to be happy about. Today? I'm grateful for my mama.

Sunshine and a Little Pink

Yesterday was such a gorgeous day here that it put me in the most amazing mood! I love, love, love the sunshine. And even though it was only 58 degrees, I made up a cup of coffee and settled in on my back porch to catch up on some reading! It was a beautiful and relaxing afternoon, and sometimes the best music to listen to are the songs the birds sing when the weather is especially nice. Am I right?

What I'm really excited for is summer. Not only will the sun be out, but I'll also be able to really focus on this little thing! I've got some plans for Class and Sass over the summer, and we're coming up on our six month anniversary at the end of this month! Stay tuned as I'm trying to set up something fun to celebrate, a giveaway perhaps? ;)

Sundays in Bed

Happy Sunday everyone! Last week completely caught me off guard, it was a little crazy busy. I made it through though, thank God. You know those weeks where you don't think you have a lot to do and then all of a sudden it's like everything school-wise/internship-wise/life-wise just sneaks up on you? They aren't necessarily my favorite, but hey, they happen, right?

And to think, only 23 more days of classes now (yes, including weekends)! I'm so pleased I could cry. But it's not like I'm counting down until summer or anything... it's just hard to believe it's so close! And with only one final, once April 30th hits I'm pretty much home free.

Sit Back with a Cup o' Joe

1. I read this at work the other night, and ask my co-worker, but I was laughing so hard I was crying. As someone who likes to run, I can relate to this post so much. It reminded me I need to start running again.... Whoops.

2. Buzzfeed was killing it this week. How Jennifer Lawrence are you? Because apparently we'd be best friends.

3. If you haven't seen this yet, it's hysterical. Props to these four year olds.

4. One of my most popular posts ever. I'm so proud of this one, and thank you so much for the support. If you missed it, check it out here!

5. Currently craving, the most comfortable underwear out there. #gocommando

6. I'm a Disney head. How Disney are you? Again, Buzzfeed was killing it this week!

7. Have you seen this commercial from Evian? Perfection.

8. How men would react to sexist remarks. This woman is a genius. Not to mention you get quite a few laughs!

9. The students at the high school I graduated from made a lip sync to Pharrell's "Happy" for our principal. He was recently diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, and we all wish him the best with his treatment and recovery!

Enjoy your Sunday everybody!

I'll be writing my last paper of the semester...

Go Ahead and Fuel My Fire

I'm not going to lie and say I've been the happiest of girls as of late. Truth be told, the past few weeks have been absolutely annoying. Almost so annoying that I literally think I may have a hangover of sorts from just being so annoyed all. the. time. Being twenty and living at home, stuck somewhere between kid and adult, not wanting to grow up, and yet at the same time only wanting to get the heck out. To live on my own, to finally start a real life for myself-- instead of this constant state of in between. But apparently nobody understands just how awful of a feeling that is, something I find extremely unfortunate.

"There's only one success; to spend your life your own way."

I am lucky because I feel so sure of what I want to do and where I want to go. I'm not going to be that girl that graduates college and still has no idea what to do with her life. I know that working with social media and marketing is where I'm meant to be. I can interpret the denotations and connotations within an ad in minutes thanks to my classes at school. I know what works and doesn't work when it comes to targeting people my age. I know that I love writing and I know that a job that in some way or another embodies all of these things is the one I'm perfectly suited for.

I already do what I want to do part-time (and by part-time I mean an internship that's basically six hours a week). But never the less, I've learned so much in those six hours a week through trial and error. And not just about what it's like to be in a real work environment, but what it's like to have to challenge yourself. To have to pitch your ideas to those above you, to feel the heat rise up into your already rosy cheeks as you wait for them to agree or disagree with the course of action you want to take. It's nerve-wracking and exciting, and so rewarding when they tell you that you've done well.

I firmly believe that I will be successful after college. It's one of the things I don't worry about. And there's nothing I hate more than when people make me feel like it's something I should be worried about. I get that we live in a society where we live to work; I understand that in other societies it's the other way around. I guess I just don't want to live to work, but at the same time I don't want to work to live. Like everybody else, I just want to find a happy balance. I think I'm way more optimistic about my future than others tend to be; I think it intimidates a lot of people as well. But here's the thing. I don't care.

"Life's tough. Get a helmet."

I am confident in who I am, what I believe, and where I want to go. I will go to the ends of the earth to get there. It doesn't matter what city I end up in after college (the Boston or New York debate continues...), it doesn't matter that I'm from one of the smallest, most sheltered states in America. I'm going to be just fine.

Our generation gets hated on so much for being naive. For living well outside our means. For dreaming big, living large, and working hard. Do you think anyone would be anywhere in life without being some kind of naive? No freaking way. Nobody would get anywhere because they'd be so deathly afraid of all the failure they could encounter on their journey. So let me be naive. Let me learn on my own terms. Let me fall and scrape my knee, or break my leg, or my arm, or every ounce of my being trying to become the best version of myself. Make fun of me and roll your eyes if that's how you have to deal with it. Call me names, treat me like I'm dumb. Go ahead. But you'll be laughing when ten years from now I'm so successful all those words you shot at me and daggers you stabbed me with will be a faint memory.

I don't have time for mean and nasty. I don't have time for unsupportive friends. I do, on the other hand, have the time to write a post to tell you this very, very important lesson-- say what you want, do what you want. And let your haters fuel your fire. Don't live for them, don't work for them. Keep them in the back of your mind every time you doubt yourself. And see who's laughing in the end.

Wishlist: Spring Calls for Some Cute Shoes

I go through shoes like nobody's business. I think it's because the climate I live in is less than wonderful (meaning we get like three days of sun a year... or so it seems like.) But as I enter into my senior year, leaving is becoming more and more of a reality. And you can bet I will be going somewhere warm! I'm partially terrified and extremely excited about it. However, warmer months are coming (fingers crossed) and I've got my eyes on some adorable spring shoes!

Also, not going to lie, this is only half the list of shoes I want. My Rack It Up closet is overflowing at this point basically. I didn't even put any boat shoes on here because I'm essentially in love with practically every shoe Sperry has to offer. Like these and these and these... and oh yeah, these too.

Didn't I tell you I have a shoe addiction?

With the right shoes, a girl can conquer the world

Which pair is your favorite?

Girl Crush: Inslee By Design

I've been on a bit of a feminist kick lately. I don't know if it's International Women's Day or what that brought all this on, but I'm embracing it. With that being said, every month I'm going to highlight a woman I admire and draw inspiration from every day. And I'm pretty excited about it! Thoughts?

It should come as no surprise to you all that I have the biggest obsession with Inslee. I just think her drawings are so adorable and fashionable. In all honesty, the fair majority of them perfectly depict my dream life! Inslee Haynes is beyond talented, and she found her business during her sophomore year of college. #impressed

I've picked out a few of my fave pieces from Inslee, although I gotta say... I'm pretty partial to the one on the left here.

Spontaneous, Fun, and Inspiring

*all photos property of Inslee*

I love all of her drawings and paintings. And the 2014 calendar? To die for. I'm definitely planning on getting the 2015 calendar when the time comes!

Are you a fan of Inslee?

Sundays in Bed

Sadness. The last Sunday before school starts up again. While I'll be spending the day catching up on all the work I chose not to do over the past week, you're probably heading out to a yummy brunch or doing something far more fun than homework. Lucky you! In my defense though, I spent the fair majority of my break running around between jobs and errands and occasional social outings. Such is my life, but that's the way I like it!

The goal for today though is to get all my stuff done by early afternoon, head to work at 4 until 7 and then come home, have some dinner, hop into bed and pop in a movie. Or read... I've been really stinking at that resolution. And I even bought Mindy Kaling's book that I've been dying to read. I'll probably do that instead. But if you don't  have a super hilarious and witty book to read prior to hitting the hay, or if you're just laying around bored all day, then I've got you covered!

We Live and Breathe Words

1. Daylight savings time was last night/today/it happened alright?! I don't know about you all, but I cherish every hour of sleep I can get, so coping with losing an hour (even if it means one more hour of daylight!) is vital for my making it through this week.

2. Anybody else as awkward of a flirt as I am? Apparently the only time I'm remotely good at it is when I've had a couple so... without further ado, Cosmo's tips on how to be the "flirtiest" of the flirts. (Fair warning: they're all extremely forward.)

3. March Style Tips from LC!

4. Have you been hating on your friends for all their selfies lately? Stop now, because #selfies are back in.

5. My friend shared this on Facebook and I love it! A strong woman is often mistaken for a b****. It's time for that to stop, no?

6. I just recently discovered The Miss Information and it's super amazing! Definitely check it out, and take their tips on maintaining your style and your budget.

7. I've always wished that I lived in the 1920s. More specifically in England. If you watch Downton Abbey, then you know just exactly where I'd like to be (wishing I was Mary... minus the whole husband dying thing.) But alas, apparently I belong in imperial China. So Mulan's cool too I guess. What time period do you belong in?

8. Nothing quite like a Buzzfeed recap of Jennifer Lawrence being awesome to lift a girl's mood. #shesmyhero

9. I died reading this because every. single. one. is true. Every 20 something with even a semblance of a social life has friends who make these exits every Saturday night.

10. This post from Maxie McCoy (love her!) put into words perfectly everything I've been feeling for quite some time now. It's okay to stay at your upper limit.

A Day to Plan A Lot and Do Nothing

Enjoy today, and rest up! Or if it's the first day of your spring break, drink up and have some fun! You deserve it.

International Women's Day Insta Love

So I don't know how many of you caught on to yesterday being International Women's Day but if you're on Instagram, then you probably were well aware. BUT, if you weren't aware, don't even worry about it! I've rounded up some favorites from all the insta love #IWD received yesterday. This is the first year I've really been aware of the day (sad since it's been a thing since 1910...), and it sparked this kind of energy in me that just had me running around all day long. What's even cooler? All of it is thanks to social media, which, if you're a social media nerd/lover/addict like me (you know you are!!), is SO awesome!

Random ramble: There are so many awesome things that I have to say about social media in general, but my absolute favorite part of the entire social media world is how amazing it is at connecting people from all over. I don't know why it fascinates me so much, or why talking about it makes me so excited... but it does and I love it and I officially love International Women's Day because of it.

I'm a girl who loves quotes, this is my kind of holiday...

#instalove

Yours truly, Class and Sass

Happy International Women's Day #IWD. Thinking about all the amazing women in my life who made#AwardSeason so meaningful and memorable...#Mother #Daughter #Love

The newly launched Porter Magazine was killing it with all their amazing quotes yesterday. They are becoming one of my favorite Instagram accounts very quickly.

A strong woman, in her essence, is a gift to the world.

Don't let anyone push you around ladies. Being a woman is hard, and if you ask me, we don't get enough credit! If you've been needing a reminder of how great you are, this is it. Now go kick some ass.

Emily

Coral Crush

So orange and coral were big on spring 2014 runways. This look from Nanette Lepore is adorable, right? And ever since my friends and I made the rather impromptu decision to go to Mexico this summer (literally this choice was made on Thursday...), I've been on the hunt for everything BRIGHT and COLORFUL.

And, if you ask me, one of the happiest and summer-y-iest colors in the world is coral. I love, love, love it! Orange doesn't really look the greatest on me. I mean, it doesn't look bad, but my extremely fair skin doesn't really work it all that well unless I'm sporting a summer tan too. Coral, on the other hand, I can pull off more easily. But my love affair goes beyond just clothes! Furniture, mugs, lipsticks... if it's coral I want it!

p.s. I picked out yesterday what bag I'll be purchasing for the trip. It's Kate Spade, are you even surprised?

She holds the heat, the breeze of summer in the circle of her hand

Ugh! Summer where are you?! Anyone else feeling just so ready for warmer days and sunshine?

Denim Denim Denim

I only wish I was cool enough to pull off this look. Denim on denim has been a favorite for a while of mine, but I've run into a few issues with the whole deal. 1) I don't own a chambray shirt or jean jacket, 2) my jean collection is less than admirable at the moment, and 3) I don't feel like I'm exactly edge-y enough to pull it off. But a lot of girls do know how to rock the denim on denim trend, and hopefully I'll be able to pull the trigger sooner rather than later by drawing inspiration from these looks!

Blue Jeans are the Most Beautiful Thing

I spy a Beau bag...
