Fall is my favorite time of year, hands down. Mostly because of all the cinnamon-y, delicious, apple-y food. But following in a close second place, are jackets. I've always had this weird fetish with them, and am constantly on the look out for more. But you'd be surprised to find that my collection is actually really pathetic. I think I just have a hard time splurging on things when I know they're seasonal. Actually, I kind of just have a hard time splurging on things in general (except, of course, on Black Friday or Cyber Monday... but even then, they're on sale.)

Sundays In Bed
Anybody else need an extra dose of caffeine this morning?
It seems like this weekend flew by. I've been fighting this brutal cold for about a week now and yesterday I finally just took a day to rest. Unfortunately, that resulted in a lot of catching up on TV shows and not so much work... So while I'm swamped today, I've still got the things that caught my eye this week!

Autumn Feels
Truth be told, the Fall 2014 runway shows were not my favorite. There were a lot of out there trends that I just can't pull off and don't really care to. When it comes to fall, I'm all about being cozy. Boots, long sleeves, pants, scarves, jackets. Give me all the layers!
The only problem with the layering situation is that usually by the time I get to class I'm sweating buckets. Love the look, hate the feel (but we all make sacrifices, right?). I've been doing a bit of online shopping here and there, and while I don't have my fall wardrobe down just right (as a matter of fact, it's not even close), at least I have an idea of what I'm looking for! The top of my list? A comfy pair of sneakers. Not only do I love the ones below, but I'm obsessed with these ones in particular.
Check out my top picks for fall below!
Red dress, $24 / Tory Burch slim fit sweater / Boohoo aztec print top / ONLY cream top, $45 / MANGO cotton shirt, $49 / Uniqlo t shirt / Paige Denim slim fit jeans, $315 / J Brand super skinny jeans, $245 / Paige Denim skinny jeans, $270 / Circle skirt / Tory burch boots / Sole Society high heel boots / Vans grey shoes / Converse shoes, $84 / Kate spade wallet / Sole Society scarve
I'm trying to get myself to invest in a good pair of jeans. Any thoughts on Paige Denim? Help a girl out! I'd love your input!

School in Style No. 2: Varsity Player
True story, I'm in love with the whole "varsity" look that's coming in for fall. Sports-inspired looks were all over the runways and I gotta say, I am so happy about it. I basically live in my sneakers on a day-to-day basis (I nanny and work at a gym.. okay?!), so this trend might seriously be the best thing to happen to me this season.
One of the biggest criteria for dressing myself in the morning is comfort. If my outfit isn't comfy, it is not going to be a good day. As a matter of fact, it's one of the quickest ways to put me in a bad mood. I'm a firm believer in the idea that comfort is key, and if you're not comfortable in the clothes you're wearing, how are you supposed to rock them in confidence? Bring on the boyfriend jeans, t-shirt dresses, and sneaks please!

{Summer} Sweater Weather
I'm notorious for being cold in the summertime. I've been thinking literally all summer of just how badly I need a lightweight sweatshirt to wear around the camp I babysit at nearly every day. The kids make fun of me because, unless we're at the beach, I'm almost always huddled up with a blanket. It could be 80 degrees outside, I don't know why on earth I get so cold.

The Bomber Jacket
So I was browsing around Olivia Palermo's site yesterday, and kind of completely fell in love with it all over again. Olivia Palermo has been one of my favorite style icons for quite some time now, but I always seem to forget about her style blog! I appreciate her style because she doesn't have just one signature look (i.e. preppy, classy, girly... etc.).
She's one of the few style bloggers who I feel really dresses themselves to emphasize how they're feeling that day. One day she's super girly, and the next, super edgy. How can you not appreciate that kind of fearlessness? I often have a hard time deciding what to buy in stores because on a daily basis, I wouldn't wear any of the items below, so it's hard to justify actually buying them. My goal over the next year is to build a closet that can take on all of my moods. I mean, even if you don't like Olivia Palermo, you can appreciate that her style reflects all of her, not just the parts she wants the outside world to see.

America, America
The 4th of July is tomorrow! It's kind of crazy to believe it's already July already, but I'm not complaining. I love the 4th of July, mostly just because of the fireworks and the fact that I get to spend the day hanging out with friends! The fireworks in my town are crazy; they put on the show right on the waterfront every 3rd of July. I've never known why they do it on the 3rd rather than the 4th but I suspect it's because all the towns in my state are relatively close together, and many have their own shows that they do on the fourth. But who knows?
Dressing for the fourth is always such fun! The red, white, and blue color scheme never gets old. Truth be told, I love it year round (who doesn't?), but wearing it in the middle of the winter seems a little extreme. Also, it makes it so much more fun when you get to wear it for special occasions like Memorial Day, Labor Day, and of course, the Fourth of July!

Shake It For Me
For those of you who don't know, this Thursday I'm jetting off to DC with my friend Taylor to visit our friend Esther and go see (I'd be lying if I said I wasn't squealing as I write this...) Luke Bryan! Also known as one of the best men to ever walk this earth. Excitement aside, I'm notorious for not packing until the last minute, and even more notorious for not planning what I'm going to wear to an event until the (you guessed it) last minute. Shockingly, I know what I'll be wearing come Friday when we drive off to Virginia for what will be the best concert of the summer! I mean... It is Luke.
He shakes his butt.
And he looks like this.
Yeah nothing else needs to be said.

Take Me to Rio
It should come as no surprise that I'm a Kate Spade addict to any of you, but alas, I couldn't resist doing a post on their latest new arrivals. I browse the site almost daily and while I had my doubts about the latest additions to the collection, they've really grown on me.
As if I wasn't obsessed enough with their book clutches, I absolutely fell in love with this one. It's so bright and summer-y, if I had a reason to carry around a clutch I would totally invest in it! I have a feeling that my bag addiction is never going to stop. I love them, and really, can a girl ever have too many bags? Hint: the answer is an unequivocal no.
Summer is my absolute favorite (although my hair would suggest otherwise... frizz is at it's highest from May to August). I love dresses, and I love skirts. I am the epitome of a girly girl and summer is my season.

Pint-Sized Style
I'm not about to pop a kid out anytime soon, and to my knowledge none of my friends are either. Totally fine by me, and I don't have baby fever anyways so the whole thing is whatever. But there are those times when I'm walking down the street and I see the cutest little child, I find myself just wanting to like borrow it for a few hours to play and then return it upon crying and/or potty time. Their chubby cheeks get me every time! I also kind of have a thing for little kid style. I've always liked looking through the kiddie sections of clothes at different stores (particularly at Gap and J. Crew... #guilty), mostly because I'm fully convinced my kid is going to be one well-dressed, adorable little nugget.
The Cutest Kids I Ever Did See
So much adorableness is such tiny little things!
I can't even. I want little Sperry-wearing children. Just not right now!
Also, let's just talk about this child dressed as Anna Wintour. You rule.

Fashion Fave: Blake Lively
I've been a big fan of Blake's since her Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants days, and when I found out she'd play Serena in Gossip Girl I nearly died. As it turns out, I ended up being more of a Blair fan, but Leighton Meester's style isn't quite as up my alley as Blake Lively's.
Mmk not only is she naturally drop dead gorgeous (seriously, I have yet to meet anyone who says otherwise and they'd have to do some intense convincing to prove me wrong here), but her street style and red carpet looks are always pretty amazing. Granted, she's probably just as pretty in sweats and a tee, but when she's all dolled up I literally find myself wishing I was her. Some things in life just aren't fair.
Her look is girly and classy, so no wonder I fall in love with practically everything she wears. Even in her edgier outfits, she looks elegant. Consider me jealous.
"I hope I never stop changing."
-Blake Lively
Do you love her style as much as I do?

Sundays in Bed
Sadness. The last Sunday before school starts up again. While I'll be spending the day catching up on all the work I chose not to do over the past week, you're probably heading out to a yummy brunch or doing something far more fun than homework. Lucky you! In my defense though, I spent the fair majority of my break running around between jobs and errands and occasional social outings. Such is my life, but that's the way I like it!
The goal for today though is to get all my stuff done by early afternoon, head to work at 4 until 7 and then come home, have some dinner, hop into bed and pop in a movie. Or read... I've been really stinking at that resolution. And I even bought Mindy Kaling's book that I've been dying to read. I'll probably do that instead. But if you don't have a super hilarious and witty book to read prior to hitting the hay, or if you're just laying around bored all day, then I've got you covered!
We Live and Breathe Words
1. Daylight savings time was last night/today/it happened alright?! I don't know about you all, but I cherish every hour of sleep I can get, so coping with losing an hour (even if it means one more hour of daylight!) is vital for my making it through this week.
2. Anybody else as awkward of a flirt as I am? Apparently the only time I'm remotely good at it is when I've had a couple so... without further ado, Cosmo's tips on how to be the "flirtiest" of the flirts. (Fair warning: they're all extremely forward.)
3. March Style Tips from LC!
4. Have you been hating on your friends for all their selfies lately? Stop now, because #selfies are back in.
5. My friend shared this on Facebook and I love it! A strong woman is often mistaken for a b****. It's time for that to stop, no?
6. I just recently discovered The Miss Information and it's super amazing! Definitely check it out, and take their tips on maintaining your style and your budget.
7. I've always wished that I lived in the 1920s. More specifically in England. If you watch Downton Abbey, then you know just exactly where I'd like to be (wishing I was Mary... minus the whole husband dying thing.) But alas, apparently I belong in imperial China. So Mulan's cool too I guess. What time period do you belong in?
8. Nothing quite like a Buzzfeed recap of Jennifer Lawrence being awesome to lift a girl's mood. #shesmyhero
9. I died reading this because every. single. one. is true. Every 20 something with even a semblance of a social life has friends who make these exits every Saturday night.
10. This post from Maxie McCoy (love her!) put into words perfectly everything I've been feeling for quite some time now. It's okay to stay at your upper limit.
A Day to Plan A Lot and Do Nothing
Enjoy today, and rest up! Or if it's the first day of your spring break, drink up and have some fun! You deserve it.

Midi's Are Here to Stay!
From midi rings to midi skirts, it's clear this trend is here to stay! I've been seeing midi skirts all over the place-- blogs, Pinterest, Tumblr, etc. And I love it. It modernizes what I think of as a very romantic trend. If you ask me, midi skirts are classy and elegant, two of my favorite things! So can you blame me if it's at the top of my list of things to get?
Don't they just take you back to the poodle skirts of the 50s? They're a little less corny of course. The thing I love about trends is that they always come full circle. What we make fun of our grandmothers wearing, well look at us now... We're wearing essentially the same thing! Just with our own little twist. The 1940s-1960s were my favorite decades; I love how simple and put together everything seemed. The clothes, the style, the attitudes, there's a certain kind of glamour to it. And want to know something else? I think this may be my favorite trend to come from the 2010s yet.
Hearts in her notebook, daydreams, and twirling her hair...
She's Got the Love Bug and She's Got It Bad
So, here's the real question. Will you be trying this out come spring? Because I definitely will!

Bring On the Rain!
| Wendy's Lookbook |
After weeks and weeks of below freezing temperatures, even a hint of 40 degrees felt like summer. I can't remember the last time I could see my driveway sans ice/snow/slush! This week, it actually rained. And while I'm craving summer and warmer temperatures, I can easily say I've never been so happy to have some rain in the forecast!
But where there's rain (mixed in with snow, ice, and slush) comes the sloshy mess that those of us up north know as mud season. The time of year where the sky is consistently gray, rain falls day to day, and snow turns to slush and then to mud. Not the best kind of weather for breaking out the cute flats. And not exactly shorts weather yet (sigh).
This winter more than ever, my Hunter boots have been lifesavers. But as I've prepared for the damper months ahead, I've had my eye on a few other adorable pairs of rain boots!
Rain, Rain, Time to Play...
I know I already have a pair.... And while I adore them, sometimes the knee-height boots are a bit too heavy on days when I just want to be comfy. I've been eyeing this short version for quite some time now. They're adorable in this color too!
Splash in Puddles...
Tory
Burch's take on the Bean boot is
oh so adorable, and definitely a pair of boots
worth investing in. Not to mention I have a soft spot for quilted pieces.
and Dance in the Rain...
I love, love, love Burberry and while I haven't yet been able to justify such a splurge, these boots are incredibly chic and have received amazing reviews from customers!
Just Waste, Waste, Waste Away the Day
In all seriousness though, I just recently discovered Joules and I'm in wellington heaven. Seriously can you get any cuter than polka dots and beagle prints?
Good grief. They went nautical on me.
Oh. They got me. How perfect are these with a bow?
Now that I'm officially conflicted as to which pair of boots to buy, I hope your weekends are all treating you well! The past week was insanity and I was completely not prepared enough to keep up with posting. I swear I'm getting back on track this week! In the meantime, which pair of rain boots would you go for? Help a girl out and let me know in the comments below!
And if you feel like being extra friendly today...
Happy Sunday lovelies.

Girl's Night In: Valentine's Day Edition
So I've never exactly been one for Valentine's Day. Maybe it's because I've never been completely and totally in love with someone, but even then it seems a little bit overrated. I try to avoid hating on things here, but in all honesty to me it's kind of just an over-commercialized holiday. Call me a scrooge, I don't care!
You know how in high school and middle school everyone used to refer to Valentine's Day as Singles-Awareness Day? I start to laugh when I think back on it. I think I've received one Valentine's Day gift from a boy in my life, and it was my sixth grade boyfriend. I treasured that cute little teddy bear for the whole time we "dated". Gotta love middle school, right?
My friends and I are a bit older now, we have a bit more experience, and some of us are in love. So there's hope! Others of us are a bit jaded. Blame it on our twenties. I like to think of Valentine's Day as a day to be thankful for all the love surrounding me.
This year, my best friend and I are having our own little Valentine's Day celebration. Valentine's Day also just happens to fall on a Friday, so count on wine, cute movies, and cookies being involved. It's not like we have anyone to impress! If you're spending Valentine's Day with your closest girlfriends this year, take a few of these ideas to make it one fun night! (Note: Avoid focusing on the whole "you're single" aspect of everything.)
Single's Awareness Day? No Way!
Some girls may have boyfriends, but we have these cookies... So who's the real winner here?
Take a cue from Lauren Conrad and set up a cute plate set, complete with DIY sequin heart hair clips!
Strawberries on a stick paired with chocolate fondue? Again, who's the real winner here?
Hot chocolate tends to be a staple for me and my best friend in the winter time, so why not give this pink velvet hot chocolate recipe a try?
Or if you're looking for a little something stronger... this wine cocktail is sure to do the trick!
All that's left is to pop in a corny 80s movie and chat away the night! Didn't Carrie Bradshaw say our girlfriends are our real soul mates anyway?
